Macchiato

A considered balance of bold espresso and a delicate veil of steamed milk.

The macchiato, a quintessential Italian delight, is a testament to the beauty of minimalism. This elegant coffee concoction, which translates to “stained” or “spotted,” celebrates the simplicity of espresso adorned with a delicate touch of frothy milk. It’s a refined indulgence that elevates a classic espresso into an artful experience, inviting you to savor its bold and nuanced flavors.

Ingredients

• 18-20 grams of finely ground Vasthare Arabica coffee

• Freshly filtered water (approx. 30-40 ml)

• 1 tablespoon of steamed milk foam

Method

Start by brewing a single shot of Vasthare Arabica espresso using a well-maintained espresso machine. As the espresso extracts, it should exhibit a deep, rich crema on top. While the espresso is brewing, prepare the milk by steaming it until it reaches a creamy, velvety texture. The goal is to achieve a light, airy foam rather than a substantial amount of milk.

Once the espresso is ready, pour the freshly steamed milk foam gently over the top of the espresso. The milk should only slightly “stain” or “mark” the surface of the coffee, preserving the integrity of the espresso’s robust flavor while adding a soft, creamy note. Serve immediately to enjoy the interplay of bold espresso with the delicate froth.
